Weather rant!
Mood:  spacey
Now Playing: Enya's Shepherd Moons on CD
I'm seriously sleep deprived. When the temps start getting into the teens or lower, it becomes a challenge to keep the woodstove going so that the house doesn't get cold. Having electric heat, we heat primarily with wood. Even with the woodstove, our last electric bill was $236. So it becomes my job to wake up around 1 a.m., and fire up the stove. This leads to being awake for a few hours until my body starts telling me to go back to bed, usually around 4 a.m., and then I get up at 7 a.m. to get Calvin off to school. The plus side to this is that I get to watch some cool movies in the middle of the night, and/or one of my favorite shows on Nick at Night, "Wings". Last night's movie was "Field of Dreams", IMO one of the best movies ever made.
So being the keeper of the fire does have it's plus side. But I sure will be happy once the temps get back up into the 20's at night. :)

As far as the sweater goes, I have a few inches left on the first sleeve. I suspect that I'll have that done sometime today, as I have no work to do for my job. I can spend the day knitting, if my husband doesn't have other plans for us.

I will post a picture of the sweater as soon as I figure out how to crop it down so that it doesn't take up the whole page.

The sweater
Mood:  not sure
Now Playing: "Real Love" by the Doobie Brothers
Blogging has pushed me to work on the sweater. I have to be able to show that I've been doing something, rather than just vegging in front of the tv every night after the kids go to sleep.

Last night I was able to get the body of the sweater onto stitch holders, and then start one sleeve. I'm determined to finish the sweater within a month.

Actually, it's been fun watching tv, and doing something productive. I've managed to stay awake later than usual, and last night even finished watching "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy", which for me, is amazing.

Tonight I'll sit back with the sleeve, and watch my L&O, SVU.

The months-long sweater
Mood:  chillin'
Now Playing: "Hang on to Your Love" by Sade

This is a picture of the Brown Sheep sweater I've been working on since the Summer. Actually, I haven't worked on it since October, when I realized that most of my knitting stuff had been packed away into various boxes, and I wasn't about to disturb those boxes that were all neat inside. So I had to order more tools from Countrywool. Claudia sent them promptly, as she always does, but I got busy with the Leslie Samson classes in November, and then the Christmas holidays.

Maybe hearing how other people are trying to finish up their UFO's will keep me working on this one. Then I have another sweater that I started back in 2000 that needs finishing too.

I'm Back!

After starting one blog, and realizing that it didn't offer everything that I wanted, I upgraded the system, and this should do it.

We had an ice storm here last night. Everything has a 1/4" of ice on it, including my car, deck, and driveway. I got the woodstove fired up, and have spent most of the morning playing around on the computer, cleaning out my handbag and finding lots of receipts that I'll need for tax time.

I should be knitting, but I'll save that for after Dale leaves for work this afternoon. I have Beef Burgundy cooking in the crock pot, and the only other thing I need to do today is make sure Calvin gets off the bus o.k, and feed/water the rabbits.

Speaking of the rabbits, they haven't exactly been co-operative in the breeding department. I suspect that my buck was a little young for breeding, but now that he's over 6 months, he should be ready. Annie is still refusing his advances, but I do believe that Buttercream is bred (let's hope so). I'll shear Annie down, and then breed her, although I might wait until after the weekend. Temps are supposed to get down in the -degrees, so I'll allow Annie and Twist to keep their lovely 3 inch coats on for another week.

Besides, I have to get the polar fleece coats made up for them, which I'll post a picture of as soon as they are done. I think people will laugh then they see them, as the fabric looks like cow spots. :)
