Policy on Purchasing a Rabbit
If you plan to purchase a rabbit, a 50% non-refundable deposit must be made within 2 days of the agreement for
which animal you plan to buy. We will accept Mastercard and VISA through Paypal to hold the rabbit for you.
The remaining 50% must be paid when the rabbit is picked up and paid in cash. If the rabbit is over 2 months of age
and ready to leave Bay Colony Farm, you must make arrangements to pick up the rabbit within 2 weeks after sending the deposit.
We will do everything within our power to make suitable pick up/drop off plans, but if we don't hear from you within that
two week time frame, we will assume that you do not want the rabbit and we reserve the right to sell it to someone else.
We do not sell rabbits any younger than 2 months of age. By that time, we are able to see how well they conform
to their standard and see if they are better suited for breeding or pet quality.
Buying a rabbit is approximately an 8 year committment on your part. They require food, shelter from
wind, rain and other animals (like dogs, raccoons, skunks, coyotes, etc.) AND most importantly, love. They are NOT a
good pet for small children, unless the parent is willing to take on all responsiblity for care. Even then, rabbits
require gentle handling, and need to be supervised with small children, pets, and around the house at all times because they
will chew on things, including electrical cords.
We will not accept checks for the payment of the rabbits.
Visits to the Farm
At this time, we do not allow visits to the farm. We do this to protect the health and safety of our animals.
People can carry in germs and disease, and some of these illnesses can live for several months, through heat and extreme cold.
Please do not ask to visit us. We are more than happy to talk to you about which animal will work best for you (I consider
their personalities as much as I do their health and mothering abilities when selecting rabbits for sale). And we are
willing to meet people at other locations to deliver your rabbit to you.
